Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.

But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.

But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessashould hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.

He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn't the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.

Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?

Unless…could this be love?

There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER ... Life will never be the same.

I received a finished copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion whatsoever nor was I compensated in any shape or from in exchange for this review.

I feel bad for not finishing this one since I was fortunate enough to be sent this book for review from the publisher.

But I really just couldn't get through this book.

After is about a girl named Tessa who is this really sweet girl and a good student with a really nice boyfriend back home. However, she goes off to college and runs into a guy named Hardin who treats Tessa horribly.

I tried to get through the book and read maybe about 50 pages? I just couldn't deal with how much of a douche bag Hardin is, yet Tessa continues to let him treat her this way. He berates her when she says that she doesn't drink and in an effort to prove him wrong, Tessa decides that she should drink. Just to prove that she isn't a party pooper.

You can already tell by the synopsis that there's a set up for a really toxic relationship. And really, I'm not about that life.

Happy Reading!

  1. This does sound painful. I've heard mixed things about After, but I've decided that it's probably not for me. Hardin sounds like a complete and utter jerk, for sure. Thanks for the review, though!
